Earned Admissions Pathway Online Master's in Data Science
The following two courses listed below are required components of the Earned Admissions Pathway into the online Master of Science in Data Science program (MSDS). This pathway is designed to give specific students an opportunity to demonstrate their readiness for graduate-level work by completing two foundational courses as a part of their admission into the master program.
Course 1: GRAD 50500: Foundations in Data Science
Course 2: GRAD 50900: Applied Machine Learning: From Foundations to Latest Advances and Data Mining
GRAD 50500 and GRAD 50900 must be taken sequentially within the same term, with GRAD 50500 being completed before beginning GRAD 50900. Students may not continue on in GRAD50900 without successfully completing GRAD50500 first. Each course is 8 weeks in length, and credit earned is exclusive to the MSDS program.
Payment is due at the time of registration, and any refunds will follow the academic refund policies of Purdue University. Students who need to drop a course are required to notify their assigned success coach who will assist with processing the request.
To qualify for admission into the online MSDS program through this pathway, you must earn a grade of B (3.0) or better in both courses, in addition to meeting the minimum graduate school requirements.
By registering for these courses, you acknowledge and understand the following:
“I understand that to earn admission into the Master of Science in Data Science program, I must complete both GRAD50500 and GRAD50900 with a final grade of “B” or better in each. Failure to meet this requirement may result in ineligibility for admission through the Earned Admissions Pathway. I also understand that GRAD505 and GRAD509 are only eligible to be applied towards my admission into the MSDS graduate program at Purdue University.”
